Dr. Honaker

Mark W. Honaker, D.V.M.

Dr. Honaker graduated from the University of Georgia Veterinary College (www.vet.uga.edu) in 1981. After practicing emergency and critical care medicine in the Tidewater area for 17 years, he took ownership of Bay Beach in 1998.

Dr. Honaker serves as team veterinarian for F.E.M.A.'s Virginia Task Force 2 (www.vatf2.com) and was priveledged to participate in the recovery effort at the Pentagon in September of 2001 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. He enjoys a broad range of veterinary interests but still enjoys emergency and critical care.

He lives in Virginia Beach with his wife, and in close proximity to the rest of his family.
Kimberly G. Key, D.V.M.

Dr. Key is a 2003 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (www.vetmed.vt.edu), and has been serving Bay Beach since her graduation. Her history with Bay Beach, however, goes back even farther. Before embarking on what would become her dream profession, she served as a veterinary assistant for several years at the clinic.

Although Dr. Key enjoys developing relationships with all of her four-legged patients, she enjoys her feline friends the most. In addition to serving and educating our patient's owners during examinations, she especially enjoys the specific areas of surgery and ultrasonography.

Dr. Key lives in Virginia Beach with her husband, two cats (Bella Sue and Gus) and two tireless trouble-seekers: Dudley and Hogan... the two best Pugs in the world.

Dr. Thompson Heidi H. Thompson, D.V.M.

Dr. Thompson is a 1997 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (www.vetmed.vt.edu). She earned her Bachelor's degree in Forestry and Wildlife from Virginia Tech (www.vt.edu) in 1993, and worked as a veterinary assistant for 6 years prior to attending veterinary school.

Dr. Thompson joined Bay Beach in 2002 after practicing in the Chesapeake area for several years. She firmly believes good client education is the foundation for our pet's health. She particularly enjoys cardiology, oncology, and other areas of internal medicine.

Dr. Thompson has a very busy home life: a husband, three young children, a happy, go-lucky Miniature Schnauzer named Fritz, and a lazy, elderly cat named Willoughby. She enjoys running, beach volleyball, and photography in her "spare time."
Carin P. Cronin, D.V.M.

Dr. Cronin graduated from the Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine (www.vet.cornell.edu) in 1994. She joined Bay Beach as an associate veterinarian in September 2005. Her particular interests include improving the human-animal bond, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery.

Dr. Cronin lives in Virginia Beach with her husband, two dogs, one cat and one much adored child.
